The last AJ1 I picked up were the Air Jordan 1 SBB 3.0, and continuing with the shiny patent J’s are these Air Jordan 1 Fearless.
These are inspired by Les Twins, a duo signed to Jordan brand known for dance, producing, modeling and designing. The colorway is based off of the two different tastes of the brothers, hence the split between a Chicago and UNC colorway on the same shoe. The “fearless” 1s are part of a larger pack of sneakers and the idea is based off of a quote by Michael Jordan: “Limits, Like Fears, Are Often Just An Illusion”.
The shoes come with a hangtag featuring MJ’s quote, and 4 sets of laces (white, black, blue and red). They also feature a special red Jordan 1 box with special paper also featuring a repeating pattern of the famous quote. We also see the phrase on an included card and repeated on the insole graphic.
Another impulse buy, I kind of just shot my shot on SNKRS and wound up getting a pair. I was unsure about them due to the materials and colorway and how they looked online, but in hand I’m glad I snatched up a pair. They’re actually very eye catching and super clean! Overall I think if you can get a pair for close to retail, it’s worth it.
How Are The Materials?
Unlike the SBB 3.0s I just reviewed, the patent on these is a bit more stiff and structured. I’m not the biggest fan of patent leather on shoes like this due to how they look after being worn a few times. Also, it’s tough to tell a good PL from a bad PL. As such, it’s tough for me to give these good marks on material quality. The construction seems good though, and I think here the materials are more of a “look at me from far away, I’m shiny” type of thing rather than a “look at me in detail up close”. If I cared about creasing (which I don’t really), I probably would never wear these.
How Do They Fit?
At true to size, Air Jordan 1 Fearless are comfortable for me at a half size up. In most Jordans except 4s, I wear a 10, and I got a 10 in these. For comparison, I wear a 9.5 in most other shoes. I find these fit about the same as other Air Jordan 1s but they are a bit stiff right out of the box. The actual comfort level is about on par with other J1s. Not super comfy but not terrible either, just average and in this case, a bit stiff.
